How To Dress Up A Basic
Why do we add jewelry to our outfits ? DUH! It’s so we can show off our personalities in a creative way. And who doesn’t love a little bling ?! There’s no one in this world that loves comfy clothes and basics more than me. So, what’s my secret? Why do I constantly get compliments on my outfits when I’m just wearing a solid t-shirt and jeans? The answer is simple, statement jewelry! Adding a statement piece to any outfit immediately dresses it up, adds some extra swag and makes you look super trendy without all of the extra effort. There are different ways to do this because you never want to over do it even though my personal motto is always the more the merrier when it comes to accessorizing. For example, if I’m wearing a statement necklace, I’m going to wear simple stud earrings. However if I’m wearing statement earrings, I’m going to wear a simple necklace or no necklace at all depending on the cut of my shirt. In this case I always wear a simple skinny chain if my shirt is off the shoulders or a v-neck. If my shirt is a crew neck cut I leave a necklace out all together and let the statement earrings take the stage. When it comes to bracelets I always say stack them high! I absolutely love bracelet combos! I mix and match beads with watches with simple open ended bracelets and even a charm bracelet to add a little extra flare. I usually stack them up on one arm and wear a statement ring on the opposite hand. Sometimes I’ll play around with this look and I’ll wear a watch on one wrist and stack a bracelet combo on the other. In this case, I say get wild and wear a ring on both hands but nothing TOO bold especially on the hand with the stacked bracelets. Sometimes I’ll even add a trendy hat or fashion glasses to my look as well and always a killer pair of shoes to top it off! Don’t be scared to mix metals and add a pop of color! Wearing statement jewelry with a simple outfit will leave you feeling like a rockstar followed by many compliments! Try it out and let me know what you think!
